Sun­rise Senior Liv­ing man­ages more than 300 senior care com­mu­ni­ties through­out the Unit­ed States, Cana­da, and the Unit­ed King­dom. The com­pa­ny pro­vides full-ser­vice care for the aging pop­u­la­tion, includ­ing ser­vices for assist­ed liv­ing, mem­o­ry care, reha­bil­i­ta­tion, and more.

Sun­rise at Cher­ry Creek sits at a bustling inter­sec­tion of Cher­ry Creek, Col­orado, a high-end, Den­ver sub­urb. The com­mu­ni­ty is vis­i­ble from the road, as thou­sands of Den­ver area res­i­dents pass by the facil­i­ty each day. Con­struc­tion in the area had recent­ly increased as new busi­ness­es, restau­rants, and res­i­den­tial sites were erect­ed. As these build­ings were cre­at­ed, it became evi­dent Cher­ry Creek required some updat­ing to make the com­mu­ni­ty look fresh and to align with the new, local design.

Ricky Lee, Region­al Direc­tor of Facil­i­ties at Sun­rise Senior Liv­ing, had worked with Jere­my Wil­ley, Sales Man­ag­er at Ren­ovia, on projects in the past, with out­stand­ing results. Lee con­tact­ed Ren­ovia in June of 2015 to begin the process of repaint­ing Cher­ry Creek.

Suc­cess­ful­ly com­plet­ing the project required sev­er­al con­sid­er­a­tions, includ­ing:

  • Align­ing col­or scheme and design with oth­er local estab­lish­ments
  • Ensur­ing all local reg­u­la­to­ry and gov­ern­men­tal assess­ments were met
  • Com­mu­ni­cat­ing with res­i­dents to min­i­mize their dis­com­fort
  • Suc­cess­ful­ly mon­i­tor­ing and stor­ing all mate­ri­als to max­i­mize res­i­dent and staff safe­ty

Renovia’s first step was to com­pile draw­ings and poten­tial col­or schemes for the community’s new look. A two-tone con­cept was sug­gest­ed to blend in well with oth­er near­by struc­tures. Cher­ry Creek’s man­age­ment signed off on the design and shared the changes with the community’s res­i­dents. After secur­ing the prop­er per­mits from the city and hir­ing an out­side com­pa­ny to man­age road clo­sures, work com­menced on the project.

Ren­ovia also worked with Cher­ry Creek to ensure let­ters were sent to each res­i­dent of the com­mu­ni­ty to inform them of the project. Rep­re­sen­ta­tives took time to walk through the build­ings and speak with res­i­dents indi­vid­u­al­ly to allay any con­cerns, and to offer tips for min­i­miz­ing the dis­rup­tion. For exam­ple, most work was com­plet­ed between 8 am and 5 pm dai­ly. Ren­ovia sug­gest­ed res­i­dents keep their blinds closed dur­ing that time to max­i­mize pri­va­cy.

Week­ly safe­ty meet­ings were held to keep staff apprised of areas of con­cern, and week­ly updates were sent to all par­ties to com­mu­ni­cate project sta­tus and time­lines for com­ple­tion.


The Cher­ry Creek project was com­plet­ed on time in Decem­ber of 2015, just three months after kick-off. All aspects of the project went smooth­ly. The com­mu­ni­ty now boasts a styl­ish and excit­ing new exte­ri­or that flows well with oth­er local archi­tec­ture. Res­i­dents were pleased with the min­i­mal dis­rup­tion to their dai­ly lives and impressed with the speed and pro­fes­sion­al­ism of the Ren­ovia team.
